I have this one personal long term project I work on whenever I find the time to in between my regular work and freelance jobs.

Since it will take quite a while until I can publish it anywhere, because progress is slow, I decided to let you have a peek at it. It's a fantasy themed digital painting I call "Herr des Waldes" (Lord of the Forest). I will write more about the painting and its meaning to me once it is fully published. 

I just wanted to show off the finished character designs I made the the Gaming Mammoth RPG session.

As part of a one-off RPG event this weekend, I started bringing the characters for the game onto (digital) paper. I'm going to join a game of Unknown Armies, and it sounds very promising, so I decided to draw each of our heroes after the DM provided me with brief descriptions.

So far they're all coming along quite well. Character design is always so much fun to me! 

Hello everyone,

I have been very busy lately, which is why it was a bit quiet on here. I mainly focussed on actually getting stuff done, and there is so much stuff!

That’s why I wanted to give you a little update on what’s going on and what my plans for the near future are. After finally finishing my degree in Graphic Design and being done with the move into my new home, I want to focus on putting together a decent portfolio. Maybe you have noticed I cut down on the artwork I show on my website as well as my Artstation profile. On the side, I am still working on new art pieces and things that properly show my current skill level as well as the style I have established over the years.

Speaking of Artstation, I decided to go PRO in the hopes of getting more exposure on there and take advantage of some of the benefits of such an account.

What else is next on my agenda?

I would love to apply at conventions as an artist to meet people, get some input and maybe sell a piece or two. This rises a challenge though: I have no car to transport merch and other necessary supplies with, and no license to drive a rented one. I could take the train but figure it would be a huge pain in the arse. So, as of next month, I will contact driving schools in the area and get my eyesight tested.

Once all this is settled, I would also like to look into getting some special and limited edition prints of some of my artwork done. I have not decided yet whether I will offer those online or only sell at conventions, but I will think about this once they’re there.

Right, that is quite enough for the near future! I am very much looking forward to all of these things. There’s so much change ahead of me, but I am quite excited about it.

One day, Dr. Malice (from Dr. Malice & The Absinthetic Orchestra) approached a few other artists and me, and asked us if we wanted to be a part of one of his upcoming albums. Since I felt like I’d really enjoy some collaboration work, I said I was in. We sat down together and discussed his ideas for the album cover art. Quickly, we agreed on a concept, and I was going to design a few posters which would be part of the overall cover art piece.

Sadly, the project got canceled. Our regular jobs and difficult personal situations made it impossible for us to commit to something of its size, to pour our hearts and creativity into it fully. Regardless, I finished one of the poster designs that were to be featured, which is the one I am going to show you.

Well, what do you know, life keeps me insanely busy sometimes, and while you may have followed my Inktober progress on Instagram, I competely missed out on posting anything here.

Apparently, I forgot to post yesterday’s Inktober drawing. Shame on me.

A while ago, when I wrote about the topic of underestimating your workload, I posted a sketch of a painting I was working on at the time. Now, I can finally announce it as finished, and I have to admit, I am a bit proud of it.

I sort of documented how it came along, and what steps it took to get to the final result. It’s only a bunch of screenshots, but I think it illustrates quite well how this painting slowly developed. And after several hours, it was finally done. I hope you like it. You can also admire the finished piece in my gallery, of course.
